Senators Kyl and DeMint claimed working up to the Christmas holiday defiles Christianity's holy day. While the Senators wring their hands about Christmas week and their toil during it at least one, and probably more, units of our young men and women in uniform prepare to depart on their tour of duty, tomorrow, Christmas Day. Theirs is a volunteer force, and they know the stakes. They go to defend the freedoms the senators enjoy while sleeping in with visions of sugar plums dancing through their heads on Christmas morning. Tomorrow at 4 am Carol and I will pick up my step-son Tech Sgt. Ryan Pedigo and drive him to Peterson Air Force base in Colorado Springs to begin his deployment. We are very proud of him and his service to our country. He will be in Kuwait for the next six months working on base where he leads a cargo loading team. Let there be no mistake, we fully understand the difference between being deployed to Kuwait or being on the ground in Afghanistan. The chances of him returning unscathed are far greater there than on the front line. However, serving is serving, and without questioning they go when called upon. We pray that those in harm's way will come home safe and sound and that the good senators enjoy their Christmas break.
Merry Christmas everyone. Sleep well knowing America's finest have your back. God bless them...Rob Scroggins
